Now we're looking for a new accountant to join our firm and take us through the next 30 years. Olsen Joly LLP is expanding, there is a lot of growth and room for advancement.
As our new CPA, your primary responsibility will be to support our clients by evaluating their current financial situation and business results, while helping to ensure the accuracy of their financial data. You will use various resources to assist with the preparation and reviews of financial statements
You’ll assist with various services such as tax planning, preparation and review of corporate and personal tax returns. You’ll also liaise with the government and CRA on behalf of our clients where necessary, as well as compile financial statements, help with bookkeeping and deal with payroll and GST issues.
As you grow, you’ll take on more advanced consultative and advisory duties. Clients will come to you for guidance and support. You’ll become a trusted advisor with your clients and will help guide their decisions on how to effectively transition their business into the future.
Your industry knowledge is important, but what sets you apart from others is your ability to build and maintain great relationships with clients. You take the time to truly understand their individual needs, and genuinely seek to improve and add value to their business.
Beyond your experience as an accountant, you're someone who is:
- Independent – you proactively take on work and are able to complete your tasks with minimal supervision.
- Knowledgeable - you have a solid foundation in accounting, as well as the laws and standards governing the industry.
- Willing to learn - you have a continuous desire to grow and learn new things, whether through professional development courses, the pursuit of your designation, reading relevant industry-related books and magazines or just from helping clients.
This is a full time, permanent position, salary commensurate with experience. Office hours are Monday to Friday, with extended work hours during peak tax season (February - April).
You'll start with 3 weeks of vacation and receive a comprehensive benefits package. We will cover your annual membership dues.

Our bright and modern office is located in Red Deer County, where you’ll enjoy an open-concept workspace, allowing you to easily interact with our fun and friendly team. As you grow and take on more challenging tasks, we’ll be there to support you along the way.
You’ll enjoy having one-on-one time with the firm’s partners and there will be plenty of direct interaction with clients. You will have a greater opportunity to learn and take care of clients as a whole and won’t be limited to working within a specific division.
When we’re not working, we like to have fun. Our office hosts various parties throughout the year to celebrate our successes, including our end of tax season party. In the past, we’ve also gone golfing and participated in scavenger hunts.
- CPA designation
- Public accounting experience
- Experience working directly with clients or in a client-facing role
- Proficiency with software such as Sage, Quickbooks, Excel, and Caseware , Taxprep or Profile
- Experience working in a multi-faceted role with varying tasks and responsibilities
