Manager Accounting (Tax Focused)

Servus’s Manager of Accounting is our accounting operations and income tax expert. They understand the details of our accounting department, oversee income and excise tax functions, supervise accounting staff and review accounting documentation. They ensure Servus's financial statements meet regulatory requirements and IFRS, making it clear for members to see we are making the right decision in all of our business transactions.

ESSENTIAL REQUIREMENTS FOR THIS POSITION:

Experience:

• This position requires between 2 – 5 years relevant accounting experience depending on the level of education completed.
• This position requires between 2 – 3 years relevant Canadian income tax experience.

Education, Training and Designations:

• CPA Designation
• Accounting standards (IFRS) and high performance in a Manager role.
• Accounting Degree (B. Comm or equivalent).
• Working knowledge of IFRS
• In-depth knowledge of IFRS based Tax Provisions & Canadian Income Tax and Commodity Tax Compliance
• In-depth Tax (completed or currently enrolled)
• Experience in making accounting decisions (including documentation) in accordance with IFRS.

Additional requirements:

Occasional overtime will be required, particularly during the fiscal year end. Some travel within the province may be required.

The business may from time to time ask for branch and/or department support for special projects and/or areas experiencing staff shortages. All employees may be asked to volunteer to assist in areas of need during these times. These assignments could result in a change of hours, location and /or travel.

Additional Information: 

This position can be based out of Edmonton, Lloydminster, or Red Deer. Other locations throughout Alberta may be considered. 

This position may be eligible to participate in Servus's corporate remote work policy which allows for a combination of working remotely and in the office.
