About the Work

You will be accountable for providing strategic direction and leadership for the Financial Services of the Northwest Territories Health and Social Services Authority (NTHSSA). You will be a senior financial advisor, as a member of the NTHSSA Executive Leadership Team, and lead the financial relationships between the NTHSSA, the Government of the Northwest Territories Department of Health and Social Services (DHSS), and the Department of Finance (DOF).

 

You will provide strategic direction and leadership to finance initiatives, and overarching financial functions for the NTHSSA. In addition, you will provide advice and guidance to the CEO and the Executive Leadership Team in the provision of effective financial services in support of NTHSSA operations.

 

You will be accountable to ensure compliance with all financial obligations established by the GNWT Financial Administration Act (FAA).

 

As well, you will lead and direct assigned staff according to NTHSSA legislation, policies, values, directives, and strategic priorities. You will be accountable for providing the appropriate financial tools and processes to support the organization in achieving the operational results expected of the Leadership Council. You will contribute to the safeguarding and controlling of NTHSSA's reputation and assets by ensuring regular review and quality assurance of financial management and material management activities.

 

This position is currently available in Yellowknife.

 

Typically this position requires a university degree in a related field (Administration, Business, Commerce, Finance) coupled with a recognized professional accounting designation (CA, CMA, CGA, CPA), at least 15 years of financial management experience in a complex, public service environment, with a minimum of 5 years of senior management experience in a complex, public service organization.
