Edmonton Region Immigrant Employment Council (ERIEC)

We are looking for enthusiastic individuals to join the ERIEC Board of Directors.  ERIEC was established in 2008 and offers a variety of programs dedicated to ensuring internationally trained and educated professionals are welcome to participate in and contribute to the Edmonton community to their fullest potential.

The Role

ERIEC is a recognized leader in immigrant mentor programs locally and nationally. In addition to being a networking ambassador for ERIEC, this role is ideally suited for individuals who are passionate about enabling new immigrants to become part of and contribute to the economy at their fullest potential. This is an opportunity to support a well-established program, and to collaborate with other professionals in Edmonton. We are looking for individuals to support the following:

  • As a collective board member, develop the strategic direction, organizational focus and business planning process through strategic planning sessions and regular board meetings
  • Provide leadership to the ERIEC operations team
  • Support and guide the Executive Director on operational decisions
  • Establish and support the governance of the organization
  • Develop strategic priorities and key results in its strategic plan for immigrant employment and settlement in the Edmonton region.
  • Participate in ERIEC working committees
  • Champion ERIEC in the community

Commitment

  • Attend all regular Board of Director quarterly meetings, Annual General Meeting and Strategic Planning Sessions
  • Lead/participate in committees as required/needed
  • Participate in and represent ERIEC at networking events, public relations functions, events and other ERIEC special events (presentations, networking, awareness)
  • Raise awareness of ERIEC by leveraging existing professional networks

Who should apply

  • We are seeking applicants who are passionate to rebalance the professional inequities experienced by professional newcomers in supporting our ERIEC vision. Experience in the following areas would be an asset:
  • Strategic planning and volunteer board governance
  • Experience or direct involvement with the small & medium business market in Edmonton
  • Professional background in IT, Post-secondary, emerging markets or Bio-technology
  • Government and public sector relations
  • Experience with funding and charitable status
