The Position

Sproule is seeking an energetic, self-motivated Senior Accountant with exploration and production (E&P) experience to join our Asset Management financial accounting team. This position is responsible for oversight of E&P accounting functions, preparation of management reports, financial statements and regulatory reports for assigned clients

Position Responsibilities

Under the direction of the Sr. Manager, Accounting, the Sr. Accountant will complete the following tasks for assigned clients:

  • Oversight and control of accounting functions
  • Preparing accurate management reports, financial statements and regulatory reports 
  • Banking, including cash management and reporting
  • Dealing with credit applications including liaison with banks and counterparts
  • Completing ad-hoc analyses as required by clients and Sproule management including historical analyses and projections
  • Monitoring duties of the Asset Management financial accounting team
  • Preparing statements of adjustment for asset or corporate acquisitions and divestitures
  • Troubleshooting and problem-solving
  • Liaising with auditors and compilation of audit responses
  • Preparing supporting documents for tax filing
  • Filing GST, T4s, T4s, NR4s etc. as required
  • Other duties as required

 Required Education and Experience

  • CPA designation or nearing completion of the CPA Professional Education Program 
  • 15+ years of oil and gas accounting experience
  • Good working knowledge of oil and gas exploration and production (E&P) activities.
  • Demonstrates understanding of management and financial reporting requirements in E&P
  • Proficient in oil and gas accounting software (Pandell JV Nexus is preferred) 
  • Expert level proficiency with Microsoft Excel
  • Intermediate level proficiency with Microsoft Word, Outlook, Powerpoint
