Heritage Park first opened its gates in 1964. As a not-for-profit, charitable organization, our mission has been to bring to life the stories of the diverse people who have shaped the unique heritage and development of Western Canada. Conveniently located in the heart of southwest Calgary, Heritage Park is situated on a 127-acre peninsula of prime parkland surrounded on three sides by the Glenmore Reservoir. The majestic Rocky Mountains form a fitting backdrop that completes the Park’s beautiful surroundings. The Park now has over 180 exhibits and service structures: 50% relocated and restored originals, 25% replicas, and 25% analogues. Heritage Park is embarking on a process to develop a long-term strategic plan.  Over the years, we’ve added new buildings, new programs and new experiences to become one of Western Canada’s most popular attractions. 

The Chief Financial Officer is to optimize Heritage Park’s ability to fulfil its mission by providing strategic oversight and guidance on all financial, business and strategy decisions at Heritage Park. The Chief Financial Officer is a critical member of the senior leadership team who is passionate about transforming the landscape at Heritage Park through prudent financial management. They will direct the IT function to ensure development and implementation of long-term IT strategic plan and short-term activities that align with the organization’s overall business strategy

 

The successful candidate will possess a minimum of fifteen or more years experience in accounting and finance, managing accounting and financial processes at an executive level. This individual will have wide ranging accounting and finance experience including risk management and controls, treasury, audit, financial planning, and reporting. They should also possess prior experience dealing at the Board level, preferably with larger, sophisticated businesses and boards. Management experience in the hospitality and/or tourism industries a definite asset as is familiarity with not-for-profit accounting requirements. The incumbent should be a proven strategic thinker and problem solver when it comes to competitive strategy, business models and resource allocation. Skilled in strategic planning, budgeting and forecasting processes to lead teams in building complex models.
