Financial Reporting Analyst

Forbes Bros is currently recruiting a full time, energetic, self-motivated Financial Reporting Analyst for our Edmonton office

Reporting to the Financial Controller, the Financial Reporting Analyst plays an integral role within the finance team by contributing to establishing collaborative stakeholder relationships by delivering accurate and timely financial reports and metrics in an easy-to-understand format. He or she will act as a trusted business partner and a key contributor to the improvement and development of these analytical tools, reports and models for a variety of internal or external stakeholders.  The successful candidate possesses leadership and communication skills to complement their technical skills

Responsibilities:

The responsibilities of this role include, but are not limited to:

  • Responsible for the development and improvement of analytical tools, reports, and models for key stakeholders
  • Lead financial modeling and analysis for all internal and external stakeholders
  • Keep current with the developments and changes to standards and trends within the accounting framework
  • Provide financial analysis and oversight for business operations
  • Improve on existing processes and lead the development of new policies and procedures as related to accounting, forecasting, and budgeting
  • Contribute to both Forbes’ annual budgeting and monthly forecasting process
  • Continually identify and monitor for business improvement opportunities within the organization
  • Complete in a timely manner special assignments and projects as required
  • Assist with ad hoc requests from both financial and operational leaders
  • Financial support tasks as required, such as account reconciliations, collection of accounts receivable, processing payments, project tracking
  • Work with corporate accounting groups (AP, Tax, Payroll, Operational Accounting) to ensure accuracy and timely completion of financial reports
  • Perform other duties as assigned

 

Preferred Qualifications:

 

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, or Commerce
  • Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA) or Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) designation or progress towards designation is required.
  • 5 or more years of related accounting or financial planning and analysis required
  • Ability to create and develop complex financial modeling and budgeting tools
  • Experience in and understanding of different enterprise resource planning (ERP) systems is an asset
  • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office and Excel (including VLOOKUP, Pivot Table, IF Functions)
  • Knowledge and understanding of standards under Accounting Standards for Private Enterprises (ASPE)
