About the Opportunity
Ashton CPA is currently looking for a Chartered Professional Accountant to join our team in Hay River on a full-time basis.
Reporting to one of the Partners, you will provide financial management, taxation, accounting, and assurance services for our clients.
More specifically, your responsibilities will include:
- Working with clients of varying financial and bookkeeping experience to assist with performance measurement and other accounting services.
- Completing audits of a diverse range of public sector clients including Municipalities, School and Health boards, First Nations and Development corporations, and Not-for-Profit organizations.
- Tax planning for owner-managed businesses; which would include estate and succession planning, and corporate reorganizations.
- Working independently in the provision of our services.
- Supervising the work of junior accountants on roles that require their assistance.
- Travelling to client's offices on occasion as required.
In order to qualify for this role, you must have a CPA designation. Previous experience completing assurance services in public practice is an asset, as is experience using our software programs (Caseware, Jazz-IT, CCH Taxprep, and Sage).
As our ideal candidate for this role, you will be an excellent and patient communicator in both written and verbal form. You will also be an adaptable, fast learner who takes initiative and has great attention to detail.
Finally, an understanding and respect for the sensitive nature of financial information is paramount.
