SENIOR FINANCIAL ANALYST

The Town of Stony Plain is currently accepting applications for a permanent full-time position Senior Financial Analyst within the Corporate Services Department.  Reporting to the Manager of Financial Services, the Analyst is responsible for regular financial analysis and reporting and providing direct support to the Town’s ERP system.  Key responsibilities include: year end, audit, grant reporting, cash management, investments, project reporting, internal controls, general ledger maintenance, financial analysis, account reconciliation review, policy development, budget, long term planning, compliance with accounting standards. The Senior Financial Analyst is responsible for providing leadership and direction to the Accountant.

The ideal candidate for this position will possess a bachelor’s degree, preferably in a financial field combined with a minimum of two (2) years accounting related experience in a municipal setting or equivalent. An accounting designation is required, as is experience with ERP systems, generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP), Public Sector Accounting Standards (PSAB), financial reporting, and analysis.  Successful applicants will demonstrate strong analytical ability including the ability to relay complex technical information – both verbal and written – to internal staff members as well as to Council when required.  This is a challenging role in a dynamic environment that requires strong time management, prioritization, and organizational skills along with excellent problem-solving and decision-making ability.   

The salary range for this position is $82,853 - $105,412 per annum.  The current work week is based on 35 hours, 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., Monday to Friday.  The option to participate in an alternate work schedule and/or remote work may also be available.  The Town offers an excellent benefits package including the Local Authorities Pension Plan.
