Vice President & Executive Financial Officer

BC Assessment (BCA) is a provincial Crown Corporation created in 1974 with a mandate to establish and maintain real property assessments that are uniform in the whole of British Columbia. We produce an annual Assessment Roll that contains fair, equitable, independent and trusted property assessments for over two million properties in the province. These assessments play a vital role in the property tax system that generates more than $8.6 billion annually to support services that people count on in BC communities, schools, libraries, emergency services, infrastructure, parks and recreation and roads.

Reporting to the President & CEO, the Vice President and Executive Financial Officer (VP&EFO) is responsible for strategic financial planning and financial operations. As a key member of the Executive Management team, the VP&EFO leads the planning process to ensure the financial strategies, policies and procedures, align and support the business operations. Managing the reporting requirements of BC Assessment’s service plan, quarterly financial and operational reports and the annual report, the incumbent leads a team approach with a customer service focus, delivering efficient and effective financial and strategic services that align and allow BC Assessment to meet its business and operational goals; key responsibilities include: Financial Services, Corporate Planning, Risk Management, Internal Audit, Procurement, Fleet Management and Climate Action.

The ideal candidate is an innovative and motivational leader who has had responsibility for providing effective financial leadership in a complex and progressive organization. Superior interpersonal and communication skills and a proven ability to think strategically and instill a continuous improvement mindset are hallmarks of a suitable candidate. The incumbent has demonstrated leadership and has been successful in developing, implementing and evaluating financial programs, processes and systems that provide a high level of service and performance. This individual will bring considerable experience working with a wide range of partner groups to implement new initiatives and can move from consultation to results in an inclusive and collaborative way. The incoming Vice President’s knowledge and career experience will be supported by an appropriate educational background, CPA designation and experience in the public sector would be an asset.
