The Role

Reporting to the Manager, Assessments and Advising, the Practical Experience Specialist, Assessments is responsible for conducting Experience Verification Route (EVR) assessments, collaborating with other reviewers on high-risk assessments as well as providing support to other reviewer staff and the pre-approved programs (PPR) team as needed.

Please note this postion is part time  (24 hours/week).

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct candidate experience assessments to determine competencies gained through the Experience Verification Route.
  • Collaborate with other reviewers on high-risk assessments and perform second reviews as required. Provide feedback to contract reviewer and escalate situations to departmental leadership as needed.
  • Assist the Manager in monitoring timelines and in developing strategies that ensure timelines continue to be met.
  • Partner with other Practical Experience Specialists to ensure consistency in assessments between candidate assessments and pre-approved training maps and messaging provided.
  • Attend national meetings and work with national colleagues to ensure consistent practices.
  • Identify employers that can support potential PPRs and communicate with the PE Specialists, PPRs.
  • Assist departmental leadership with departmental goals, business plans, and performance measurement, as required.
  • Participate in the development of practical experience policies and materials for candidates.
  • Provide assistance to the Practice Experience coordinators as required by the Manager.

Requirements

  • Must be a Chartered Professional Accountant in good standing.
  • 2 – 3 years of post-designation experience in either public practice or private industry.
  • Familiarity with the CPA PER (Practical Experience Route) and PPR (Pre-approved Route) Programs a benefit.
  • Proven ability to plan, organize, and execute projects according to established business plans.
  • Ability to work in a fluid, changing environment.
  • Excellent verbal and written presentation skills.
  • Ability to explain and demonstrate technical knowledge and application in a practical manner.
  • Works well under pressure, manage multiple tasks and priorities and meet deadlines.
  • Ability to work both within a team and independently.

Working Conditions
