Volunteer Board Director

Seeking Designated Volunteer Board Director:

YWCA Lethbridge and District is an organization created by women that responds to the needs of women and youth in the Southern Alberta Community. Housing, homelessness, poverty, domestic and sexual violence, health, volunteerism, youth empowerment, leadership, and belonging are all subjects addressed by the YWCA. Our mission is to enhance lives through personal empowerment and supportive community using our core values: integrity, community, safety, perseverance, mentorship, equity, and health and well-being

YWCA Lethbridge and District is currently seeking a designated professional to join the Board of Directors to provide support and expertise from a financial lens. The position provides oversight, guidance, and governance in the financial management of the organization, working directly with the CEO and finance manager. Responsibilities include chairing of Finance committee meetings, budget review, expertise on analysis and interpretation of quarterly financial statements, periodic assistance with operational inquiries, setting/analysis of organizational KPIs and assistance as required with year-end external audit. Knowledge of not-for-profit accounting is an asset, though not required to effectively help guide the organization's financial strategy.

Our Volunteer Board of Directors meets monthly through virtual means or in-person in Lethbridge, Alberta, when appropriate. In addition to monthly Board meetings, Directors are required to serve on at least one Board Committee that meets once per month. Enthusiasm and time to devote to the organization is essential (approximately 4 hours per month in total).
