Reporting to the Director, Internal Audit, the Manager, Internal Audit is responsible for developing, managing and executing a comprehensive internal audit plan to assist the Director in providing independent and objective assurance and consulting services to AGLC’s executive team and the Audit and Finance Committee.  You will have the opportunity to strengthen Alberta’s gaming, liquor and cannabis industries by bringing a systematic and disciplined approach to evaluate and improve the effectiveness of governance, risk management and control processes.  As a strong project manager, you will lead a team of professionals, comply with professional standards, build strong relationships throughout the organization and act with diplomacy to resolve conflicts to assist AGLC in achieving its mission, vision, values and strategic direction.

The Manager will establish and foster positive relationships to coordinate and collaborate with internal stakeholders. In addition, the Manager will coordinate with external groups to maximize the assurance provided to the Audit and Finance Committee, which includes the external financial statement auditor, third party service providers and others. 

The Manager, Internal Audit performs supervisory role over internal audit staff and consultants and will be responsible for managing the portion of the internal audit budget related to the operation of their work unit.

SKILLS & ABILITIES

  • Minimum of a University Degree in a related discipline.
  • Minimum of 5 years related internal audit experience; with a minimum of 2 years management/supervisory or project management experience.
  • Completion of one or more of the following designations and/or related certificates is required:
    • Certified Internal Auditor (CIA) designation
    • Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA) or legacy (CA, CMA, CGA) accounting designation
