Vice President, Finance, Corporate Reporting & Accounting

Clearwater built its business with a willingness to take chances, develop new products and take them to new markets – key strategies it continues to practice today.  In January of 2021, the Mi’kmaq Coalition partnered with Premium Brands to become the new owners of Clearwater Seafoods. The Mi’kmaq Coalition was formed by seven Mi’kmaq communities in Nova Scotia and Newfoundland. The collective investment of the Mi’kmaq in Clearwater represents the single largest investment in the seafood industry by any Indigenous group in Canada. Premium Brands is a publicly traded company based in British Columbia, which owns a broad range of leading specialty food manufacturing and differentiated food distribution businesses. 

Clearwater is currently seeking a Vice President, Finance, Corporate Reporting & Accounting to work closely with the Chief Financial Officer and the senior leadership and executive teams in safeguarding of the company’s financial assets and ensuring effective internal controls and financial reporting. You will lead the consolidation, financial reporting, management reporting and internal controls functions within this multi-national global operation, while also focusing on continuous improvement by leveraging systems and simplifying processes. You will play a key role within the finance leadership team and the overall business by driving strategic initiatives for the ongoing development of the corporate accounting, corporate reporting, internal controls and transaction processing teams at Clearwater.

With a successful track record as a senior financial leader within a large, complex entrepreneurial company, the ideal candidate has a CPA designation and a post-secondary degree, along with 10 plus years of progressive experience in financial reporting (IFRS) and complex accounting/analysis within a capital-intensive business. You have deep experience in financial reporting and analysis (ideally for large public companies) and ERP and SAP experience. You have exceptional leadership and people management skills and an inspiring and inclusive leadership style which enables you to effectively lead a large team and to build trusting relationships with colleagues across the organization, including the executive team and both ownership groups. You have an innate ability to stimulate employee engagement and a collaborative team approach to accomplishing goals. You instinctively look for process improvements, efficiencies and other strategies to improve organizational effectiveness. You are results-oriented with the ability to deliver on key initiatives with a sense of urgency and are naturally motivated to rise to the challenge of making a lasting contribution to a growing and evolving organization. Previous experience in the food industry and/or a processing environment is an asset.
