Reporting to the Chief Financial Officer (CFO), the Controller is a vital position to our business. Having the right education, experience, and skill set, they are a person that is accountable for managing the overall financial operations of the company.  The Controller must enjoy a variety of duties requiring them to be highly organized with a proven ability to work collaboratively to manage the financial activities of a large commercial construction company.  

Key RESPONSIBILITIES: 

  • Oversee the completion of full cycle accounting functions for all companies within the corporate group including accounts payable, accounts receivable, general ledger account reconciliations, bank reconciliations, cash flow analysis, all payroll functions and cost accounting
  • Maintain and update the organization’s accounting systems, policies, and procedures as required
  • Ensure project expenses are allocated correctly
  • Make recommendations to improve or enhance administrative procedures
  • Produce and deliver financial metrics to the CFO as required
  • Prepare client invoices on a monthly basis and ensure timely collection of all receivables
  • Prepare and submit all Government filings and reports
  • Create accountability and the meeting of deliverables

 

Key QUALIFICATIONS:

  • 5 + years progressive accounting experience
  • University Degree and CPA Designation
  • Supervisory/leadership experience in Accounting
  • Excellent understanding of computerized accounting systems
  • Excellent English verbal and written communication skills
  • Able to be confidential
  • Strong client attitude
  • Demonstrated analytical abilities to arrive at logical conclusions
  • * Experience in the Construction Industry and Sage 100 Contractor would be an asset

 

RELATIONSHIP MANAGEMENT:

  • Build effective relationships with internal and external stakeholders
  • Provide supervision, mentorship, and direction to the Accounting Technician
