Our client, the company Can-Cell Industries Ltd (www.can-cell.com), a subsidiary of the Soprema Group (www.soprema.ca) of Drummondville, is presently seeking a Financial Director for its Edmonton office.

SOPREMA Canada employs around 900 people in twelve manufacturing facilities and eleven technical-sales support offices located throughout Canada, including the Research and Development Center in Drummondville.

 

As for its Can-Cell Industries Ltd subsidiary, it has over 10 sites in Canada.

Financial Director – EDMONTON

 

Under Can-Cell Industries Ltd Vice-President and at the head of a group of about 5 people, the position holder’s main responsibility is the company’s financial administration. Furthermore, he is responsible for supervising the administrative, material and legal activities.  He is responsible for managing the investing and financing projects, shareholder relationships regarding the financial component and risk management. He is a member of the Board of Directors and will have a leading role in the company’s strategic development.

 

Whether within the operational or strategic activities, the Financial Director will distinguish himself by his overall vision, his judgment ability, his leadership and his guidance towards process improvement. 

 

More specifically, the retained individual will:

 

Draw up and put a financial strategy in place that will meet the company’s business objectives;

Plan, organize, lead and control the activities within the Finance Branch and the company’s administration and ensure active leadership within his department;

Analyze the financial performance of the company and its different business lines and propose solutions to maintain and develop the projects and the investments profitability;

Establish, set up and follow the pertinent key performance indicators (KPI);

Supervise the development, the implementation and the upkeep of the budgetary and accounting systems as well as the development of management reports;

Structure the Branch’s operations with the aim of optimizing the accounting processes’ efficiency, of producing the financial information within the required deadlines and of ensuring their compliance;

Manage the cash flow to ensure that the company fulfills its financial obligations;

Set up the asset control and management mechanisms;

Ensure a legal vigil on the company’s contracts and agreements;

Ensure the information technologies department’s management and supervision;

Ensure the follow-up of the different administrative files (various corporate contracts, insurances, building management, etc.);

Take part in the development of the organization’s overall strategies by integrating the financial aspect;

Manage all the financial and investment projects and develop and maintain excellent business ties with the investors and the financial institutions as well as the regulatory and financial authorities;

Take part in analyzing acquisition opportunities and counsel the company during due diligence;

Prepare and present financial information to the Board of directors and play an advisory role for them as well as for upper management.

 

The Criteria

 

Dynamic – Creative – Talented – Skilled Communicator;

University undergraduate studies in accounting or finance;

Recognized accounting title (CPA);

Minimum 5 years of pertinent experience in a position with similar duties;

Excellent business acumen, strategic skills and focused on action and results;

Strong ability for analyzing and strategically interpreting the statement of earnings;

High-level communication skill;

Clear leadership.
