Current Role

We are currently seeking candidates for the position of Senior Financial Analyst. The Senior Financial Analyst is a member of the finance team with daily responsibilities related to the accounting, financial reporting and treasury functions of the Company. The Corporate accountant will continue to develop the finance team by contributing financial accounting skills in a busy and fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities:

Financial Reporting – Financial statement preparation and analysis, project reporting, cash flow forecasting and review of account and GST reconciliation. Preparing financial analyses and reports.

Cash Flow Management – Regular monitoring of inputs and outputs affecting both cash inflows and outflows. This includes monitoring daily bank balances for deposits and payments, preparing cash forecasts that consider operating, financing and investing impacts on cash.

Financial System Management – Maintenance of Great Plains to ensure new companies, new accounts and other items are regularly included into the system, maintenance and update of financial reporting systems to ensure it meets current reporting requirements. Performing other accounting duties and supporting junior staff as required or assigned.

Bank Draws – Work with the bank and quantity surveyor to do draws for each stage of projects. Be able to compile and analyze financial reporting packages for the draws.

Relationship System Management – Work closely with external auditors to ensure that year-end financial reviews are completed in an effective and efficient manner. This includes tax planning and tax preparation, preparation of year end working papers and reporting and coordination of final financial statements and information.

Ad Hoc Duties – Liaise with department managers; develop business plans, goals, objectives, policies and operating procedures, perform senior finance related tasks as assisting with acquisitions, capital expenditures and internal controls, supervise direct and indirect reports, including quarterly meetings and formal annuals performance evaluations.

Qualifications:

The successful candidate will possess the following qualities:

-University degree with a Professional Accounting Designation (CPA)

-7 plus years of experience in finance

-Comprehensive understanding of accounting standards, specifically Canadian ASPE

-General understanding of corporate tax and GST

-Established management skills, including the ability to lead, mentor and develop operational and corporate staff

-Detail-oriented, proactive, self-starter with strong organizational and analytical skills

-Excellent time management skills and flexibility to work the hours required to get the job done during peak times

-Strong computer skills, including sophisticated Excel and Powerpoint presentation skills

-Experience with accounting software (Microsoft Dynamics – Great Plains would be considered an asset but not required)

-ability to work well without supervision
