The Opportunity

Reporting directly to the Chief Financial Officer, the Controller will be a key strategic business partner and member of the Finance team and will work closely with the General Manager, Winton Homes and Cottages. This position requires an individual with a high level of professionalism and confidentiality along with the ability to contribute to a positive culture based on mutual trust and respect while delivering results.

As an integral part of the team, you will be responsible for the financial management of our Winton operation. In this role, you will prepare monthly financial forecasts and balance sheet reconciliations, as well as plan, manage and coordinate the financial accounting programs in accordance with the Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) prescribed by the Canadian Institute of Chartered Accountants (CICA). You will manage the day-to-day activities of the Finance and Administration team, develop accurate expenditure forecasts for all Finance activities, oversee the Finance Plan to ensure that cost targets are met and analyze financial performance against key performance indicators and have expensive job costing experience.

Your Background

As the successful candidate, you hold your Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA) designation and have a minimum of ten years’ experience with increased financial responsibility which includes extensive job costing experience.  As an experienced leader with a minimum of five (5) years of supervisory experience, you demonstrate strong and effective interpersonal and communication skills, as well as the ability to inspire excellence in those around you through effective coaching and mentoring. You have strong problem solving, critical thinking and decision-making skills and are highly organized with an ability to prioritize workload and meet demanding deadlines. You are comfortable with systems technology and strive to maintain the fiscal integrity of computerized financial systems.  Preference will be given to those who possess a familiarity with forestry and the lumber manufacturing industry.
