Volunteer Board Member Opportunity

Opportunity ISC is looking for Board members who are driven by the belief that newcomers, with their rich and diverse backgrounds, are incredible people who enrich Canada. The Board of Directors works with the Chief Executive Officer to ensure the effective governance of the organization and support the organization’s strategy, including progression of its transformative Gateway initiative. Areas of Board focus include policy, strategic planning, finance, fund development and stakeholder engagement. In addition to bi-monthly Board meetings, Board members also actively participate in committee work and can expect to volunteer approximately 8 to 10 hours a month. Length of Term 2 years We are looking for board volunteers with experience in one or more of the following areas: • Finance / Accounting / Treasury • Operations Management • Non-profit sector Applicable Interests Immigrant settlement issues, multiculturalism, diversity, human resources, finance, fundraising and resource development, community development, marketing, not for profit, board governance. Qualifications Previous board experience, especially in the not-for-profit sector, is an asset, though not required.
