Senior Accountant

The Senior Accountant will be a key member of the accounting team at Atlas responsible for biological assets & inventory, revenue & receivables, regulatory reporting, budgeting & forecasting, and special projects.  The ideal candidate will have some experience in manufacturing, with ERP systems and with full cycle accounting. We are looking for someone who excels with challenges, can problem solve independently and is resourceful. Inventory and revenue impact every aspect of the business. We need someone who is keen on the industry and wants to work with other departments and management to learn the business inside and out.

Reports to: Manager of Financial Reporting

Role and Responsibilities

Biological Assets & Inventory

  • Oversee all aspects of cannabis inventory and maintain inventory model
  • Responsible for updating and maintaining standard costs for all products
  • Learn the functional mechanics of the ERP system – Sage X3
  • Assist in the continuous improvement of the ERP system with the facility
  • Lead inventory cycle counts and variance analysis on cannabis inventory

 

Revenue & Receivables

  • Oversee all aspects of the revenue & receivables process and maintain working papers
  • Manage sales pipeline and timing of cashflows
  • Develop meaningful revenue KPIs for sales & marketing teams
  • Working with CFO and Director of Sales to maintain pricing strategy 
  • Assist in developing international pricing plan

 

Regulatory Reporting and Other

  • Lead the preparation of monthly financial statements
  • Assist with the year end audit and quarterly review statements & MD&A
  • Report cannabis movement to Health Canada and CRA (CTLS Report)
  • Report cannabis sales to regulatory agencies (Excise Report)
  • Budgeting and Forecasting assistance, as necessary
  • Other duties as required

Qualifications

Required

  • 2 – 5 years of accounting experience
  • CPA designation, or nearing completion of designation 
  • Experience with ERP systems
  • Strong with Excel
  • Comfortable operating in a start-up environment
  • Strong communication skills both spoken and written

 

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience working with Sage X3 or similar ERP system
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
  • Manufacturing accounting experience
