Our downtown offers a variety of unique stores and businesses who take pride in fostering connection in our community. High River is a people-first community where families put down roots for generations. The Organization

Through the dedication and passion of our 150 employees, we deliver important services to the community. Our purpose, or why we do what we do, is because we want to make a difference in our community now and for generations to come (our ‘why’). To achieve this, we inspire and respect one another, we can be counted on, we are better together, and we dare to be different (our ‘how’).

We’ve embarked on a workplace culture journey that has enhanced our commitment to people; both our employees and the community we serve. We have identified three pillars to achieve our workplace culture: Accountable, Connected and Excellence (ACE).

The Role

This senior finance position reports to and supports the Manager of Financial Services, and is accountable for providing sound financial analysis and advice, financial and regulatory reporting, budgeting and forecasting, asset preservation, oversight of financial information systems, and internal controls. With a focus on continuous improvement and service excellence, the Senior Analyst, Financial Management and Advice works as a member of the Financial Services team to foster a workplace culture focused on Accountability, Excellence and Connection.

The successful applicant must have a post-secondary degree or diploma in finance, accounting or commerce, as well as an Accounting Designation (CPA, CA, CMA, CGA). Additionally, a minimum of five (5) years of experience in senior or increasingly more responsible financial or accounting roles is required, preferably in municipal government, with public sector or not for profit experience considered an asset. We are seeking a senior level subject matter expert in finance and accounting, ideally with a solid understanding of annual budgets, forecasting, financial reporting, full cost recovery concepts, and long-term planning principles. The ideal candidate will be strategic and analytical, with exceptional customer service and communication skills and the ability to explain technical concepts and theories to non-technical audiences.
