Associate Vice-President, Finance

Reporting to the Vice-President (Finance & Administration), the Associate Vice-President (Finance) is a member of the senior leadership team at the University and is responsible for all operating and capital budget matters facing the University, including planning and proposed financing of university priorities as determined by senior administration and the Board of Governors. Leading an overall team of approximately 40 FTE’s. The direct reports to this role include:

  • Executive Director Financial Services
  • Director, Resource Planning
  • Director Financial System Support and Development
  • Financial Internal Control Analyst
  • Faculty Financial Officers (5)

 

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • A Bachelor’s degree in Business, Economics or other related discipline. A Master’s degree is preferred, combined with a Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA) designation.
  • A minimum of 10 years of progressive financial experience in an academic or complex business environment;
  • A minimum of 6 years of experience at a senior leadership level.  Demonstrated leadership skills and success in developing a vision and leading people to achieve exemplary performance and outcomes is required;
  • Ability to influence, lead and inspire others to achieve operational goals;
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills;
  • Dynamic, enthusiastic team player who adapts well to change;
  • Innovative problem-solving abilities; motivated to achieve continuous improvement;
  • Ability to interact effectively with employees at all levels within the organization.
