The City of Fort Saskatchewan is seeking a confident, professional, results-orientated individual to join our Team. Reporting to the City Manager, the Senior Infrastructure Analyst is responsible for assessing the merits and financial impacts of large-scale projects and operational changes. The Analyst assists in developing operating and capital budgets by supporting operational staff during the conception and vetting of new initiatives. The data analysis undertaken by the Analyst informs decision-making by the senior management team and Council. While accounting or data analysis experience is an integral component of the assigned work, the success of this position comes from a person’s ability to listen to subject matter experts and incorporate their needs and feedback into the budgeting and reporting processes. The Senior Infrastructure Analyst must be able to build strong relationships with people across the organization and external stakeholders.  The Analyst promotes the City’s commitment to diversity, inclusions and Truth and Reconciliation within the department, organization and community.

Specific accountabilities include: assisting departments with developing business plans for new initiatives; analyzing operating costs and developing cost recovery strategies for specific program areas; analyzing and maintaining the City’s Utility Rate Model, including adjusting the rate for changes in operations; and evaluating assumptions against actuals to determine if corrections are necessary for future budgeting. In addition, the Senior Infrastructure Analyst prepares financial analysis and grant applications for new initiatives intended to meet community needs or achieve strategic objectives identified in the corporate strategic plan.

The successful candidate will have an Accounting or data analysis related Degree. A professional accounting designation is an asset. A minimum of five (5) years of experience is required, with a progressive increase in responsibilities. Knowledge of general long-range planning, financial and data analysis, and financial applications are required. Candidates must have a strong understanding of accrual accounting and advanced skills in working with financial systems. The ability to communicate constructively in a positive, confident and respectful manner (written and oral) to internal and external stakeholders is essential.

Hours of Work: 37.5 per week; Monday to Friday
