Director, Finance

Parkland County has a permanent full-time position available for a Director, Finance within the Chief Financial Office. Under the direction of the General Manager, Corporate & Shared Services/Chief Financial Officer, the Director, Finance is responsible for strategic oversight of the County’s financial reporting, budget, tax, and assessment services. This position provides operational leadership, strategic planning, and staff management of the department. This position serves as a leadership role to ensure there is fiscal prudence, financial reporting compliance, effective utilization of County funds, and a clean audit opinion.


The ideal candidate for this position will have the following qualifications:

  • A Bachelor’s Degree in accounting, finance, commerce or related discipline and a Chartered Professional Accounting (CPA) designation.

  • Ten (10) years of related experience, including progressive senior leadership experience with a focus on strategic programming and managing multi-disciplined teams.

  • Working knowledge of public sector accounting standards and the Municipal Government Act, along with financial reporting, budgeting, planning, and forecasting skills.

  • Demonstrated proficiency with computer applications including Microsoft Office and financial software.

  • The ability to support and motivate staff with varying levels of expertise.


This position offers a competitive total rewards package including:
