Controller

The Controller is a critical member of the CPA Insurance Plans West (CPAIPW) team, who oversees all accounting activities and is a member of the Leadership team.

To succeed in this role, you will need to understand the importance of financial reporting and love applying your skills to assist with all aspects of the business. You will be the go-to person on the Leadership team for anything numbers. You will also be responsible for ensuring the operational accounting processes are smooth sailing and owning all aspects of the reporting and budgeting processes.

Key Responsibilities

• Planning, directing and coordinating all operational accounting functions
• Contribute to the Leadership team with unique financial insight
• Mentor and coach the Accounting Specialist
• Coordinating and preparing internal and external financial statements
• Coordinating activities of external auditors
• Managing the budget process
• Assessing current accounting operations, offering recommendations for improvement and implementing new processes

Qualifications

The ideal candidate will meet the following criteria:

• CPA designation
• 5+ years of senior-level accounting experience
• Working knowledge of cloud accounting software, apps, and systems. Specifically, QBO, Dext, Plooto is an asset
• Highly skilled in Microsoft Office 365 (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint)

Terms of Employment
