Summary:

The Director of Finance reports directly to the Chief Financial Officer (CFO) and works closely with executive, managers and staff across the organization. The Director of Finance will lead the organization in financial matters and will be responsible for leading the accounting team through transaction processing and general ledger maintenance, annual budgeting processes, development and implementation of accounting policies, procedures, and systems to ensure the accurate and timely preparation of financial statements and associated analysis reporting to the executive team.

  • Maintaining up to date knowledge with accounting changes, and business and industry developments, and develop sound accounting positions to address the changes
  • Development and implementation of accounting and financial policies, procedures and systems ensuring company financial information is relevant, timely and fairly stated and that adequate internal controls exists
  • Ensure transaction processing roles for Accounting Group (presently accounts payable, general ledger) are handled efficiently and effectively
  • Preparation of monthly financial statements and analytics for executive team
  • Manage the internal and external audit processes
  • Ensure compliance with all regulatory requirements
  • Other duties as required

Qualifications/Requirements:

  • Holds a recognized accountant professional designation with active registration with the Chartered Professional Accountants Regulatory body in Alberta
  • 10 years of experience post designation in a corporate environment
  • Demonstrated knowledge of IFRS and accepted accounting rules, practices, and reporting requirements
  • Advanced proficiency with accounting software and spreadsheet programs and applications (Office 365, MS Dynamics NAV)
  • Strong Excel skills with experience in financial modelling
  • Experience in financial systems design and implementation
  • Strong leadership and communication skills
  • Experience managing diverse teams
  • Ability and commitment to attend in person at Aquatera’s Grande Prairie office
  • The successful candidate will be required to provide a current Criminal Records Check, Credit Check and 5-year driver’s abstract – all satisfactory to the employer as a condition of employment
