Senior Financial Analyst

Position Summary

There are two Senior Financial Analyst positions that will support the operations for the company’s Manufacturing and Aircraft Assembly divisions (1 position) and Maintenance, Repair and Overhaul (MRO) division (1 position).   The Senior Financial Analysts will support programs and strategic planning initiatives by providing comprehensive and insightful financial analysis backed up by detailed and integrated financial models, historical actual costs and long-term forecasts.

Location

YYJ – for Manufacturing & Aircraft Assembly (preferred)

YYC – for MRO

Key Responsibilities

  • Review and provide recommendations for changing financial analysis and processes that support Manufacturing, Aircraft Assembly and Maintenance, Repair and Overhaul (MRO) divisions
  • Support Manufacturing, Aircraft Assembly and MRO by partnering with members of business units to provide financial modelling and analysis for identified programs and projects including, variance analysis, overhead burden (absorption) analysis and the development, maintenance and reporting of KPIs
  • Prepare monthly financial reports on the status of the programs/projects including current variance to budget and forecasted results compared to budget
  • Act as a key contributor in the monitoring, analysis, evaluation and implementation of programs and projects providing recommendations to Manufacturing, Aircraft Assembly and MRO
  • Analyze and maintain 12-18 month rolling forecasts for programs and projects including sensitivity analysis on key inputs and assumptions
  • Analyze purchase price variances report  
  • Partner with members of business units to provide cost benefit and decision support analysis for identified challenges and opportunities
  • Create and/or prototype procedures to enhance business processes, operations, and data flow
  • Be an active member of the Finance Manufacturing, Aircraft Assembly and MRO team in a positive and collaborative manner.
  • Act as the financial conduit with manufacturing, sales, marketing, legal, manufacturing, aircraft assembly, MRO and finance to evaluate and pressure test business case assumptions

Qualifications & Skills

  • A University degree or equivalent experience in a relevant discipline such as Finance with a CFA or Accounting with a CPA
  • Minimum of 5 years of financial analysis experience supporting large complex manufacturing programs
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Excellent analytical skills and a proven ability to create integrated financial models that facilitate decision making
  • Flexibility, self-motivation and the ability to give and receive feedback
  • Excellent time management, task planning and prioritization skills
  • Competency with Microsoft Office with advanced skills in PowerPoint and Excel
  • Advanced working SQL knowledge and experience working with relational databases, query authoring (SQL/PowerQuery) as well as working familiarity with a variety of databases is required
