Northland School Division Audit Committee - Public Member Volunteer Opportunity

There is an exciting opportunity to join the Finance and Audit Committee of the
Northland School Division. The Division is seeking someone with a passion for public
education, accounting/finance skills and a desire to give back. This individual will not
only be skilled in finance, but their collaborative and solution-oriented approach will
complement their teamwork skills. This would only require attendance for two meetings
a year.

If you are passionate about being involved with an inspiring organization in the Indigenous
Education, willing to contribute your breadth of knowledge, abilities and experience,
looking to help the Committee develop and grow, we would love to hear from you.

Northland School Division is unique among school divisions in the province and is
situated in postcard Canada! Covering 288,387 square kilometres (44% of Alberta), our
schools are found near mountains, lakes, rivers, forests and wetlands. If a virtual
education experience is preferred, we have you covered with Northland Online School!

At NSD, over 90% of the student population is of First Nations and Métis descent. We
serve 1860 students in 21 schools. The students we serve are able to choose an
in-person or an online educational learning experience that reflects their local
community context. This means they will have opportunities to learn on the land and
learn Indigenous languages such as Cree and Dene. In addition, the learning
experience for NSD students is a welcoming, caring, respectful, safe and inclusive
learning environment.

We do this by investing in quality and community-informed teaching, leadership and
student support with one goal in mind - that every student is able to demonstrate growth
and they love to come to school in Northland.
