Vice President, Corporate Services and Chief Financial Officer

Bethany Care Society (Bethany) is one of the largest not-for-profit providers of continuing care, supportive living and affordable independent housing for seniors and adults with disabilities in Alberta. Reporting to the President and Chief Executive Officer, the Vice President, Corporate Services and Chief Financial Officer (VP, CS and CFO) of Bethany will be a strategic and trusted partner to the Chief Executive Officer, executive leadership team, and a dynamic and supportive Board of Trustees.  The VP, CS and CFO will oversee the financial reporting, financial planning, treasury management and forecasting, supply chain management, capital assets, and project budgeting of the organization, as well as ensuring the strategic direction of the finance function supports Bethany’s mission, vision, and values.  As a member of the Executive Leadership Team, the VP, CS and CFO will be responsible for the oversight and strategic development of the organization’s business plan. 

With a flexible and adaptable approach, the VP, CS and CFO provides leadership for a number of Corporate Services including finance, human resources, facilities, information technology, communications, materials management, and procurement.  Additionally, the VP, CS and CFO will lead the financial and business requirements of Bethany and property management services for third party owned buildings.  As an exceptional relationship builder, this passionate and team-oriented individual will be a key contributor to the organization’s overall growth strategy, leading business development activities, including joint ventures and social enterprise partnerships.

Operating in a dynamic healthcare environment that requires transformation and innovative approaches to the delivery of care and services, this forward-thinking individual will bring a creative and entrepreneurial mindset to the development of diversified and sustainable streams of revenue for the organization.  The VP, CS and CFO will facilitate progressive and participative leadership, while providing effective communication and vision for the Corporate Services Team.  Through a motivational leadership style, the VP, CS and CFO will contribute to a collegial, engaged and learning culture at Bethany, and will encourage, inspire, and empower all team members to live into the mission, vision, and values of Bethany.

The successful candidate will possess a chartered accounting designation (CPA) with an undergraduate degree in business administration, commerce, or a related field.  The ideal candidate has a minimum of ten years of progressive finance and accounting experience at an executive leadership level, and a proven track record with multi-site operations, decentralized accountabilities, and client oriented service delivery. The optimal candidate has strong technical skills in accounting including planning, budgeting, financial reporting, information systems, tax and regulatory compliance, treasury management, and supply chain management.  Experience with healthcare, housing, and/or hospitality would be considered an asset.
