L Bloxham Professional Corporation is seeking for a staff accountant to join our team in Calgary, Alberta, Canada. L Bloxham Professional Corporation is an established but growing CPA public accounting and tax firm. Our firm has the pleasure to assist clients in bookkeeping, accounting, tax, planning, and consultation. Our client base is in Canada (except QC) and International. Our diverse clientele ranges from small to medium size businesses, partnerships, individual, non-residents, trusts, and estates. The candidate must be willing work with the clients, our team of accountants and other professionals as well as to assist with all tasks of the office such as administrative work to complicated tax returns. We are a firm working towards becoming paper-light and embracing the new technologies to assist with increase efficiency, decrease office costs, and improve client documentation.
The ideal candidate:
- CPA student (capstone) or CPA candidate or CPA passed CFE but needing experience or Experienced public practitioner
- Minimum 2 years experience in public practice
- Legally able to work in Canada
- Strong technical experience in accounting and tax
- Proficient with accounting standards and tax law for corporate and personal
- Experience with MS office, Caseware, Jazz-it, Profile, and Quickbooks (QBO) is an asset
- Strong organizational and time management skills
- Understands the importance of attention to detail, accuracy, consistency
- Able to meet timelines and deadlines
- Quick learner, self-starter, motivated, take initiative, results-oriented
- Strong work ethic who works with integrity and a “Can-do” attitude
- Up-to-date ethics courses
- Will provide feedback to improve and add value to the processes
- Supportive and loyal team member who advocates for firm

- Recognize each task is important to keep the firm running smoothly in conjunction with providing personal professional services to the clients
Primary Responsibilities and must have experience at:
- Prepare compilation engagements from start to finish with minimal supervision
(planning, working papers, reconciliation, adjusting entries, financial information statements, letters, checklists, documentation, referencing, completion, file close) - Complicated bookkeeping and reconciliations which includes, but not limited to: bank, investments, holdbacks, AR & AP, intercompany, loans, assets, funds held in trust, related party and other related complex transactions
- Payroll for clients
- Preparation and reconciliation of all CRA accounts, payroll, T slips, GST, PST, CRA processing reviews, and other related government forms & documents
- Preparation and reconciliation of corporate, partnership, trust and complex personal (resident & non-resident) tax returns
- Liaison between CRA and client
- Recognizing clients are important and providing prompt, exceptional, personal service to clients. Communication is key with clients verbally and in writing
- Assist with administrative tasks of the office
