Accounting Manager

Rundle College is an independent, coeducational, day school that was founded in 1985 and provides an outstanding educational experience for approximately 1,200 students in Kindergarten through Grade 12. Position

The Accounting Manager contributes to the overall success of Rundle College Society by supervising and executing the accounting and payroll functions of the organization.  

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Support the mission, vision and values of Rundle.

  • Supervise the accurate processing of accounts payable, accounts receivable and payroll.

  • Prepare monthly journal entries and reconciliations to ensure account balances are accurately reflected on a timely basis.

  • Prepare internal monthly financial reports and provide advisory services to budget-owners.

  • Contribute to the budget development and year-end financial reporting processes.

  • Maintain records and actively manage customer accounts in conjunction with the accounts receivable clerk/admissions department.

  • Ensure compliance with payroll and GST filing legislation.

  • Provide support and leadership to school administrative staff.

  • Recommend process improvements and maintain system configurations to facilitate accurate and efficient accounting and financial reporting.

  • Maintain the organization’s chart of accounts.

  • Other duties as assigned.

 

Skills, Abilities and Experience

  • Knowledge of accounting standards for non-for-profit organizations

  • Proficiency in the use of accounting systems (Sage), Microsoft Office products and Google applications.

  • Advanced proficiency in the use of Microsoft Excel.  Candidates will be required to demonstrate proficiency.

  • Experience with Rycor fee management system considered an asset.

  • Strong attention to detail with a high level of technical competence

  • Ability to work accurately with minimal supervision, manage multiple and shifting priorities, and consistently meet deadlines

  • Payroll experience considered an asset

Qualifications

  • Chartered Professional Accountant designation preferred

  • 3 years experience with progressive responsibilities in accounting roles

  • prior supervisory experience considered an asset

  • Experience working in an educational institution considered an asset
