Manager – Transmission & Corporate Accounting

We are looking for talented Manager – Transmission & Corporate Accounting to join our team. Reporting to the Director, Finance, this individual will be responsible for managing transmission payables, including involvement from contract design and stakeholder collaboration through to automation of invoice validation and final cash settlement for services; the corporate treasury functions; and the corporate accounts payable, accounts receivable, and the financial reporting functions.

Accountabilities include but are not limited to:

Transmission Payables

  • Collaborate with the Commercial and Procurement teams on new transmission-related products, participating in high-level product design, drafting of contracts, and ensuring final negotiated contract terms can be reasonably interpreted, calculated and settled.

  • Manage the development and maintenance of the financial settlement systems and models utilized to validate transmission costs, collaborating with IT, Commercial, Operations and other business groups as required.

  • Collaborate with stakeholders and educate transmission services providers on processes related to populating settlement templates and submission of invoices and supporting files for payment.

  • Review and approve transmission settlement invoices, journal entries and related processes in Workday (ERP), ensuring timeliness and accuracy of results.

  • Review quarterly rate rider calculations and supporting data.

  • Assist with regulatory reporting requirements for general tariff applications and deferral accounts involving both written and financial analysis.


  • Oversee corporate cash management activities including settlement transactions, forecasting, borrowing and investing, monitoring of financial ratios and compliance reporting.

  • Manage coordination of new and ongoing business initiatives requiring treasury-related involvement.

  • Review and approve treasury-related journal entries and processes in Workday, ensuring timeliness and accuracy of results.

  • Liaise with banking provider as required for general administration or to manage escalation of issues, including integrations between banking portal and Workday.

Corporate Accounting & Reporting

  • Manage the corporate accounts payable and accounts receivable functions, including system approvals of vendor and supplier setup, purchase order creation and invoice processing, through to cash settlement.

  • Manage the corporate credit cards and corporate travel account and related accounting processes.

  • Review the monthly and quarterly financial reporting packages, including analysis of the corporate financial results.

  • Manage the research, interpretation and application of applicable reporting standards (IFRS).

  • Manage the preparation of the annual audited financial statements and management’s discussion and analysis and coordinate with external auditors.

  • Manage completion of all internal and external corporate reporting, including Board presentations, stakeholder reporting, tax filings, etc.

  • Support activities related to enterprise risk management, as well as assessment, design and compliance of corporate internal controls over financial reporting (C-SOX).

  • Research, develop and maintain corporate financial policies in conjunction with the Director, Finance.

  • Support the coordination of the corporate budget process and quarterly forecasting cycles, including related analysis and reporting.

General Management Accountabilities:

  • Overall management of staff, including coordination and prioritization of work, mentorship, supporting learning & development plans, and ongoing performance management.

  • Review monthly account reconciliations related to respective work areas.

  • Review monthly, quarterly and annual financial reporting packages, including analysis of corporate financial results, with a specific focus on respective work areas.

What you’ll bring to us:

  • Undergraduate degree in Commerce, Finance or Management, majoring in Accounting.

  • Professional CPA accounting designation.

  • 10+ years of proven progressive experience, including relevant work experience at a management level for 2+ years in an accounting department of a mid-sized organization.

  • Proven ability to build sound working relationships with others and gain their trust.

  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office products.

  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.

  • Sound professional judgment.

  • Superior communication skills, both oral and written.

  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.

  • Exceptional team building with demonstrated ability to lead, motivate and mentor staff.
